Gareth David-LloydDr. Robert Cameron Gareth David-Lloyd is best known for his role as Ianto Jones in the programme Torchwood. Ianto’s death in Children of Earth Part 4 caused an outcry amongst fandom. Recently he has been in the short film A Very British Cover-up and appears as a Police Detective in upcoming Internet Crime Thriller, Girl Number Nine, with the first episode due to be shown on Friday 30th October 2009. Gareth recently completed filming on a Sherlock Holmes feature with a difference for Global Asylum. The film, which also stars Dominic Keating, is expected to be available on DVD in January 2010. Gareth is currently filming as the guest star in an episode of The Bill for Talkback Thames. “It’s a great part that interested me straight away” says Gareth. “I think everyone will enjoy it too”. He is also the lead singer in the band Blue Gillespie, they have recently released their second EP Cave Country Part 2. |
Zoe MillsDr. Alice Sharpe Zoe trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and having recently graduated from the post-graduate course. Originally from Manchester, Zoe has always had a strong interest in the arts and writing, which is unsurprising in that her Mother is also an actress and her father was a successful television director. Having flirted with a diverse range of careers she was unsatisfied with, she decided to move to New Zealand. After a wonderful and exotic year travelling around, working in Ski resorts, surfing and Fire spinning, Zoe finally owned up to the fact that she wanted to be an actress and got on with it. Previous roles include the ‘Duchess of York’ in an acclaimed production of ‘Richard 3rd’ directed by Iqbal khan and the character of ‘ Margaret Fell’, founder of the Quaker movement, in an exciting physical theatre production of ‘ In My Mouth’ written and directed by Firenza Guidi. Zoe has also trained with ELAN in corroboration with the Frantoio Theatre School in Italy. Zoe is excited to be playing the lead in Casimir Effect and is looking forward to the challenge of playing such an interesting character. |
Neil RaymentCromwell Jackson Neil Rayment hit the limelight along with his twin brother Adrian back in 2003 with the Wachowski Brothers Matrix sequel The Matrix Reloaded. He played one of the two silvery henchmen of the Merovingian. In 2001 Neil left the UK and traveled aboard, living in America and Australia gaining inspiration from every facet of his travels. Neil returned to the UK in 2004, and settled in Cardiff with his wife and baby boy. This is when he founded Advanced Jewel Craft, and since its launch Neil has gone from strength to strength, reestablishing himself as an eminent figure in British Jewellery design. Double award winner of Goldsmiths Craftsmanship and design Awards in 2007, and winner at the Kayman Awards 2008. Neil is excited about returning to film work and looks forward to playing Cromwell Jackson in Casimir Effect. |
Peter Owen WilliamsMajor David Jones Peter Owen Williams trained as an actor at The Northern Drama School, Manchester in the early 60s but was seduced with money in a teaching job in a boys’ secondary school where he started Drama on the curriculum. Since then he has taught Drama in all levels of education. He moved to Wales in 1976 to start a job teaching Drama at Crosskeys College. During that time he learned Welsh. In 1986 Peter became the Chairman of the Drama Committee for the National Eisteddfod in Newport. While at Crosskeys he acted in numerous plays both inside and outside the college and taken parts in several films. Peter directed two or three productions every year including “Doctor Faustus” by Christopher Marlowe in which Gareth David-Lloyd, played the title role. He has now retired from teaching, but still keeps himself busy and the producers of Casimir Effect managed to tempt him in joining the production. |
John JennerLt. Alfred Sharpe John Jenner became interested in theatre and TV when he was a child after watching a school production of RUMPELSTILSTSKIN in infants school. He joined local theatre groups when he was 14 – 15 years old and went to college in his late 20’s. His first professional TV production was in ‘97. He has worked in film and TV and travelling theatre ever since. Including Doctor Who and Torchwood. He has appeared in many student productions around south Wales; including Mr Abershaw’s Happening Day by the writers and directors of Casimir Effect. He is presently attending the International Film School Wales attempting to learn how to make films as well as act in them – principally to make his own scripted projects. |
Gemma JamesIolanthe Gemma James is new to acting, but is looking forward to the challenge of playing Iolanthe in Casimir Effect. She sees it as an interesting opportunity to develop her skills. She is excited about the project and trying something new and will bring a unique energy to the character. |
